MapleStory Evan Skill Build Guide: Evan (KR:에반) is one of the six Heroes who is part of the Magician branch. This class is unique because Evan use his dragon (Mir) to fight instead of his weapon. Evan starts his journey on a farm as the son of a farmer. He can use a Wand or a Staff as his primary weapon, and Documents or shields as his secondary weapon. Evan is not one of the heroes that fought the Black Mage personally, he is part of an ancient line of dragon masters that was nearly wiped out by the Black Mage when he fought the legendary heroes. Evan’s primary stat is INT (Intellect).

Increases the duration of all Liberated Runes by intensifying their mana. This skill can also be used by one character you have in this world.

Two bursts of mana attack enemies in front. As you job advance, this skill improves, up to Mana Burst IV. (Lv. 10 required to learn Mana Burst II.)

Teleport (Active)
Allows you to teleport a set distance to other locations on the same map using the arrow keys.

Magic Guard (Toggle On/Off)
A portion of the damage dealt to you affects your MP instead of your HP. Activated automatically when you have at least 1 MP, and is ineffective when you have 0 MP. Can be toggled on/off with the skill key.

Dragon Soul (Passive)
Your dragon contract increases your Weapon DEF, Magic DEF, and Speed.

Magic Link | Linked Magic (Passive)
Shares Mir’s magic, raising Evan’s Magic ATT.

Explanation:
Add 1 SP (Skill Point) to unlock Mana Burst I, Teleport and Dragon Soul. First, max Magic Link to increase your base damage and increase the Max MP so you have ample MP to cast your skills. Secondly, max Teleport to reduce the cost of MP per teleport and also to increase the distance per teleport. Use Teleport to reach enemies faster during training or use it to travel in large maps. Thirdly, max Dragon Soul to improve your defenses and speed up your walk speed. This will help in reducing HP consumption when being hit by enemies. Fourthly, max Dragon Spark so each time you attack, Mir will be able to lend a helping hand to deal some extra damage towards the enemy. Finally, max Mana Burst I. The reason it is maxed last is because the max level Mana Burst I will cost a lot of MP and most of the enemies can be eliminated within 1-2 hits when grinding on enemies that are within your level.

Mir immediately stops attacking and returns to Evan, cursing nearby enemies to take more damage. This skill advances alongside Dragon Flash. Activates when Evan uses (Return!) while Mir is using Dragon Flash, Wind Flash, and Thunder Flash.

Increases Evan’s Magic Attack Speed for a short time.

Support Jump (Active)
Evan uses air currents made by Mir’s flapping wings to jump once more. Press the jump button and the up direction key while jumping to jump higher. Can only use while Mir isn’t attacking. Max Level is 4.

Your mental discipline permanently increases your INT.

Required Skill: Magic Debris (MAX)
Generates reinforced magical residue. The magical residue can be activated to inflict damage on enemies around Evan. The more the number of magical residue activated at once, the greater its damage.
Level 1: Generates 1 magical residues around enemies hit by the Fusion skills. Regeneration Cooldown: 0.4 sec. Max generation count: 15. Costs 102 MP upon activation. Throws magical residue at up to 15 enemies, attacking at 72% Damage 1 times. Damage +81%p every 5 magical residues. Generated magical residue disappears after a set period if left unused.
Level 20: Generates 1 magical residues around enemies hit by the Fusion skills. Regeneration Cooldown: 0.4 sec. Max generation count: 15. Costs 140 MP upon activation. Throws magical residue at up to 15 enemies, attacking at 110% Damage 1 times. Damage +100%p every 5 magical residues. Generated magical residue disappears after a set period if left unused.

Onyx Will (Passive)
Onyx Will strengthen Evan and Mir’s bond and their physical capabilities. Decreases damage from enemy attacks, and adds an additional Stance to Evan while Mir is attacking.
Level 1: Permanently decreases damage from enemy attacks by 10% and increases Stance Rate by 32% while Mir is attacking.
Level 20: Permanently decreases damage from enemy attacks by 20% and increases Stance Rate by 70% while Mir is attacking.

Dragon Fury (Passive)
Maintain a certain amount of MP to increase the dragon’s concentration and Magic Attack. This skill’s effect is canceled when your MP goes out of range.
Level 1: Magic Attack +16% while remaining MP is 49~81% Max MP

Utilizes powerful elemental magic in succession. You’ll get a new power for a short time after each one. Unaffected by attack reflection.
Level 1: MP Cost: 1000, uses magic 4 times in a row, Max Enemies Hit: 15, Damage: 780%, Number of Attacks: 6, Critical Rate: +100%. Each element increases Final Damage by 5% for 10 sec. Cooldown: 60 sec.
Level 25: MP Cost: 1000, uses magic 4 times in a row, Max Enemies Hit: 15, Damage: 1500%, Number of Attacks: 6, Critical Rate: +100%. Each element increases Final Damage by 5% for 10 sec. Cooldown: 60 sec.

Dragon Break (Mir Skill)
Max Level: 25 (30 with Matrix Points)
Mir uses a variety of strong dragon body techniques to attack enemies in front of you. If Dragon Break attacks enemies using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage. Mir skills and Fusion skills are not affected by attack speed boosts.
Level 1: Consumes 1000 MP. Deals 520% damage 7 times on up to 12 enemies for 2.5 seconds. Cooldown: 30 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 1000 MP. Deals 1000% damage 7 times on up to 12 enemies for 2.5 seconds. Cooldown: 30 seconds.

Imperial Breath (Fusion Skill)
Max Level: 25 (30 with Matrix Points)
While Mir is attacking with Dragon Break, he resonates with Evan’s magic and attacks with a variety of elemental techniques. Imperial Breath’s skill level is increased with Dragon Break. If Imperial Breath attacks an enemy using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage. This skill can be activated if Evan uses Elemental Blast while Mir is using Dragon Break.
Level 1: Deals 676% damage 7 times on up to 12 enemies for 4 seconds.
Level 25: Deals 1300% damage 7 times on up to 12 enemies for 4 seconds.

Break – Return! (Fusion Skill)

Evan Storyline

It all started when Freud/Freed (a heroic magician and researcher) had a great desire of finding a way to have dragons and human live together peacefully. He meets Afrien, King of Onyx Dragon who shares the same philosophical love for all lifeforms. Both took this opportunity to pledge each other by bounding themselves with powerful rituals and spells to create a Spirit Pact. Under this pact, 2 spirits become 1 resulting an unbreakable bond even past death and also making them more powerful than being apart.

Then Black Mage came into Maple World and discovered that Onyx Dragon has great power which he can exploit. On one night while Freud was away, Black Mage meets with the great Onyx Dragon King, Afrien. He asked Afrien to join him and betray Freud and humans. He promised Afrien that working together with him makes both of them even more powerful than they could ever imagine. King of Dragon explained that the source of Onyx’s power was from the love and trust from Spirit Pact. He could not betray his friend Freud nor would break Spirit Pact if he could.

Black Mage researched a way to break the Spirit Pact forcefully and eventually came up with a possible solution by trapping Afrien’s partner (Freud) in ice forever. He launched a devastating attack on both of them and succeeded in separating them before he cast his ice curse on Freud. Afrien threw himself in front of his friend to protect him. Though the plan was not completely successful, Black Mage plan to break the Spirit Pact has been achieved. Afrien had left behind a dragon egg, and as long as this egg existed there is a chance where a future hero who comes along and re-establish the Spirit Pact. Freud escaped with the egg and hid it where it might eventually be found.

Evan, the younger under-appreciated child of Gustav the pig-farmer, found the Onyx Dragon Egg and took care of it until it hatches and matures to an adult Onyx Dragon. Both of them reforge old bonds and Spirit Pact. Onyx Dragon will rise again with his fellow companion and use this power for justice and peace! NOTE: Evan wasn’t the person who fought against Black Mage a century ago with the other 5 MapleStory Legendary Heroes.
