Company Description
Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is a liberal arts university located in San Diego, California. Established in 1902, PLNU offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs and serves a diverse student population. The university is situated on a beautiful 90-acre campus overlooking the Pacific Ocean and has regional centers in Bakersfield, San Diego, and the Inland Empire.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a Payroll and Human Resources Coordinator at Point Loma Nazarene University. The coordinator will be responsible for managing payroll processes, handling benefits administration, assisting with employee relations, implementing HR policies, and maintaining accurate HR records. The coordinator will work closely with the HR team and other departments to ensure smooth HR operations.
Salary:
Pay range $21.76-$23.5.00 per hour
Internal Classification: Career Track - Support; Job Level - 3
Job Description:
What We're Looking For:
- You are able to provide excellent customer service communicating clearly, respectfully, positively, and supportively.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel, Workday experience is a plus
- You have an eye for detail and are familiar with balancing/reconciliations
- Self-motivated and able to work with regular check-ins and supervision from department leaders or teammates to communicate back progress and updates.
- Enthusiastic, passionate, and strong work ethic!
- You have an interest in Payroll or Human Resources and are looking for opportunities to grow your career in these areas.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Serves as the first point of contact for all payroll related inquiries via phone, email, or in person, and is the primary backup to university switchboard/reception.
- Provides training and on-going support to bi-weekly employees and supervisors on time entry system procedures, policies and dates.
- Provides support in the overall payroll processing of bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls.Serves as a backup for processing when other payroll staff are out of the office.
- Provides payroll reports and data to HR, Accounting and other internal and external constituents as requested
- Participate in fiscal and calendar year end processing of payroll and coordinating with outside vendors for W2 distribution
- Processes employment verifications
- Assists with other human resources functions as needed. This could include, but is not limited to, benefits billing and reconciliation, recruitment, compliance, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or one year of administrative office experience required
- One year of related HR/Payroll experience preferred
- Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with campus community.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Knowledge and experience working with a diverse population is preferred
- Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
- Job offer is contingent on a clear background check.
